Enjoy Valentine’s Day in Nottingham

February 5, 2015

With only a couple of weeks until Valentine’s Day all the couples will be planning their special day and plenty of the singles will be building up the courage to ask the object of their affections out on a date.

But where should you go? For anybody dating in Nottingham here are our top 5 date destinations:

Ice skating

While the cinema and a restaurant are to some extent clichéd a date at the ice skating arena is much more original. Especially if your potential date is not from Nottingham, this is a great opportunity to make the most of one of the city’s unique attractions. It’s great fun, will encourage both of you to relax, and you won’t be struggling for a conversation if it’s your first date.

Theatre

This will require some preparation in advance so is a good idea for longer-term couples. If your better half is either a theatre fan or enjoys new experiences, then booking tickets for an upcoming show is a romantic and interesting Valentine’s gift. While some people dress casually for Nottingham theatre, it is also quite common for people to go all out and wear their best gear; you can make it as laidback or as ceremonial as you wish.

Boat Trip

In Nottingham we are lucky enough to have lots of different boat tours available at our fingertips. Travelling along the banks of the river Trent, you can enjoy some beautiful scenery or alternatively you might choose the Erewash Canal, Gunthorpe Lock, or Newark (where you will see Newark Castle amongst other attractions).

The Wheel, Market Square

Available until 22nd February, the Wheel of Nottingham is a fun tourist attraction where you and your date can enjoy sitting down under the stars (or a blue sky) and looking out over the beautiful city – ideal for a date.

Wollaton Hall and Park

Perhaps visiting the Nottingham Natural History Museum or Industrial Museum is not the most romantic of ideas, however, a wander in the Wollaton Park could be a lovely way to spend a day with your date, walking and chatting in the crisp, winter weather.
