Nottingham Light Night 2022 will be the thirteenth edition of this great event. The city after dark will attract thousands of visitors across a range of demographics. Nottingham will once again come alive at nightfall with performances, illuminated attractions, and cultural events. Some of Nottingham's best street food vendors will be selling their wares at the unique Light Night market.

We’re going to take a look at what to expect!

The Heart of the City

Old Market Square is one of the best locations to start your night and meet friends. It’s a significant hub for the city’s social scene and transport links. Known as the city’s beating heart, it is expected to have some exceptional must-see exhibitions. Nottingham BID and Arts Council England put on an eclectic display of eye candy last year, and this year will be no different.

Book a taxi to get there early and beat out the crowds.

Skate of Nature

The Skateable installation. Skate of Nature was one of the leading commissions of 2020. It was inspired by the power of young people to affect positive and cultural change. Reflecting on the State of Nature report, 2019, this unique exhibition explored the idea of urban life and wildlife.

Members of the public were invited to create UV placards and messages about why we need a wilder city!

We don’t know what to expect this year, but we have high hopes.

Nottingham Street Food Club

Nottingham street food club will have much to offer.

1. Music and DJs

2. Art installations

3. Projections

4. Independent food stalls

Starting with the takeover of Avenues Primary Gallery. Pete Ellis and eco-artist Sarah Turner host a ‘deep sea’ workshop every year. Turner is an award-winning eco-designer. You can expect to see her incredible lighting pieces built from reclaimed materials.

So, don’t miss your chance to get in on the fun with them.

Then over to the late-night fun, the party usually ends with a local bands and DJs collection! Last year this all went down at the Creative Quarters Surface Gallery, and we expect the same this year.

Magical Ice-Skating

Ever fancied gliding across the ice with the lights turned down low and the music turned up high? Now is your chance. The National Ice Centre is sure to be putting on their excellent weekend fun. You can expect a great local DJ and a fantastic light show, so don’t miss this one.

Final Thoughts

The evenings may still be a little dark and wintry, but you will regret missing out on the lights this night. So, put on your best winter coat and get ready to enjoy a night of fantastic spectacle and good food. With illuminations, installations, and inspired performances, the alluring Light Night sees the city come alive.

To escape the hustle and bustle, make sure to book a taxi at an excellent price.
