Here is some information on the past of the beautiful Wollaton Hall...
The hall is in fact an Elizabethan house that was completed in 1588. It was built by Sir Francis Willoughby, with help from the architect Robert Smithson. Over the centuries the name of the family changed. The hall still remained in the ownership of the bloodline until 1926 when death duties forced its sale.
It is now owned by Nottingham City Council. It houses the city’s natural history collection. People say it’s one of the most haunted buildings within Nottinghamshire
In the tour there will be no fancy dress or no tricks, device to attract attention. The person running the tour is called Kath George. She is in charge of unlocking and locking the building normally. Kath has met former residents, as well as her colleagues, some still in the service and some long gone. Its said that Lady Middleton is known to haunt room 19, which people think was her bedroom after being paralysed and bed bound. Fans of the paranormal believe Lady Middleton remains at the hall.
Wollaton Hall is known as one of the most haunted places in Nottingham. It often finds itself on the list of the “spookiest places in the country”. This tour brings in the story of events that has happened with things that have happened that are unexplainable. Things might get that spooky were offering a soft drink or wine to steady those nerves of yours.
